Last night, while we were having fun with "You might be a @ThirdDay @3DGomers if . . ." on Twitter last night, Mac Powell (on Twitter he's @MacPowell) was having some fun of his own. He opened the floor for fan questions. In case you missed it, here are the questions and his answers. (Keep in mind, you only have 140 characters on Twitter, hence the abbreviations and short answers. All of these are tweets by Mac. The beginning part "RT" means "Retweet" which means he's copied hte question the person asked, along with their Twitter username at the beginning. Mac's answer is at the end of the question. From time to time, since Gomer time began, threads pop up on the boards wherein everyone posts their ideas for "You might be a Third Day Gomer if you . . . do such and such." But with new technology comes new ways to play the game. Tonight, we took it to the next level and played on Twitter. Here are some of the ones the Gomers on Twitter came up with. Twitter's down this morning and Facebook's acting like a spoiled child. I need someplace to share my good news. Why not the blog? (Even though this has nothing to do with Third Day, it's still of a Christian nature, and some of you might be into this kind of thing, so why not?)
As some of you might know, I have two sons, aged 22 and 18. My 18 year old is going off to the University of Texas in two weeks! We are so proud! And I've finally gotten him to wear orange! But for years, my older son and I have loved to watch X Games. I especially love FMX (crazy guys doing wild tricks with dirt bikes like this). It's thrilling! (As long as it's not my kid up there on that bike.)
One team of riders that's always been a favorite of mine, although for the life of me I can't really tell you why, is the Metal Mulisha. Knowing this, while we were watching X Games this weekend, my son, who thinks it's so funny that I like the Mulisha and especially their "General" Brian Deegan, looked up info on Brian and the MM. He discovered some wonderful things! Things that brought tears to my eyes and sweet loving joy to my heart. And I have to share it with you. (The part I'm talking about starts halfway through this video.)
Brian Deegan has given his life to the Lord! And he is leading many of his Metal Mulisha mates to Him as well! This is wonderful, not only for these guys, but because they are role models for many young men and women today!

I'm here at The 40th Gospel Music Association Dove Awards! We like to sit up in the balcony, because we can see all the artists in the floor. I don't see Third Day yet, but here is DecembeRadio sitting right behind The Blind Boys of Alabama, who are all in blue.
I'm in Nashville for the annual GMA Week. It's the week preceding the Dove Awards, and it's full of seminars, showcases, meetings, lunches, more showcases, seeing old friends, meeting new friends, and most of all FUN! This is my seventh year to attend. I look forward to it all year!
I'm going to try to blog a little from here, but it will be a very little, because we have no Internet connection in our apartment and I have to peck it all out on my phone. So short posts with lots of spelling errors. But I will try to post photos of things as they happen, like Third Day playing the Nashville 4 Africa concert Wednesday night. (See post below for details.) And Dove Award updates Including pictures (if I can sneek some. They patrol our balcony like guards in a prison!) So stay tuned as I try to let you on on a little of the fun!
I don't know whose idea it was for Third Day to go to Alaska during winter. These boys are from the south. They are not used to cold weather, let alone really cold weather. Here in the south, we're freezing if it gets down to 65! (Well, some of us are.) And Alaska period is way too cold for southerns, let alone in the middle of winter.
Just the other day, Mark Lee noted on his Twitter, "It is 44 degrees in ATL, -40 in Fairbanks, AK where I'll be Friday. That's 84 DEGREES COLDER!"
So pray our boys stay warm!
It looks as though they are having a great time. And when Third Day rocks Alaska, the temperature is sure to go up a few degrees!

Every year on December 26 my husband and I have the same discussion. He won't listen to Christmas music or watch any Christmas movies after the 25th. He say, "Christmas is over." And he LOVES Christmas, so I don't understand why he wants to cut it short.
To me, and maybe to a lot of busy moms, the part of Christmas I love best begins on the 25th and doesn't end until the night of January 1st. That is when I can relax and enjoy the holidays! The hustle and bustle are over. I can look at lights without thinking about the gifts I still have to buy. I can watch the movies with both eyes, instead of it being on while I am making cookies or wrapping presents. I can read through the holiday cards and letters without feeling guilty that I haven't sent mine out yet. And the kids are home from school, Dan has time off, we're all home together. There is nothing left to do but enjoy the beauty of the season! (It doesn't hurt that my birthday falls in that week! More celebrating!)
And this is also a great time to relect on the wonderful, awesome gift that is the Lord Jesus Christ. The old year is ending. A new year is starting. Everything seems quieter. It's the perfect time to talk to Our Father, and to listen to what He has to say back to you. He may ( and probably does) have winderful things for you in 2009!

Did you know KLOVE is putting on two FREE secret Third Day shows? (I guess they aren't so secret anymore!) YES! Wednesday, July 30, (tomorrow) in Phoenix,Arizona, and Friday, August 1, in Denver, Colorado.
And I know you know Third Day is on the Jay Leno show (filming right now!) tonight.
Thought I'd share this so you will know what kind of crazy people I hang with. This was during GMA Week in Nashville this year. We had gone to see the Sunday Night Shout at The Station Inn with Mike Ferris and special guest Ashley Cleveland. Debbie and Janet fell in love with the rockin' gospel music. Debbie bought Mike's CD Salvation In Lights. We listened to it again, and again . . . and again . . . and . . . again . . . a n d . . . a g a i n . . . ad nauseum. Yeah, it wasn't really my cup of tea. And I don't know why. I loved it live. But anyway, we made a stop at a camera store. I went in and they waited in the car. This is what I saw when I came out. Ha ha! I love my friends.
In this poston the Third Day blog, Mark talks about his top ten Third Day shows. He lists the 2004 Great Gomer Gathering in Houston, Texas, as his third favorite show. I started to put my comment there, but it started to get a little lengthy, so I decided this would be a better place.
That "sea of orange" in the audience was quite a sight! I'll never, ever forget it. I sent KSBJ email afteremail telling them that this was going to be the first Great Gomer Gathering, and could they help us surprise Third Day with a "sea of orange" by having everyone, all 14,000+ audience members, wear orange. How awesome that would be!!! Third Day would take the stage and be totally amazed at the love and support from the audience. It had been my fantasy for years (still is) that there would be tons of people at every show wearing Gomer shirts. This idea was just an exaggeration of that fantasy. I had no idea it could be as awesome as it was! At the concert, Dan and I walked all around the Pavilion, up on the grass hill, just looking at 12,000 or so people dressed in orange (there were about 2,000 hold outs). This may sound silly, but I cried. It was so beautiful! There was so much love poured out to this band I loved, our chance to give back a little of the love Third Day had given to us for so many years. Later, Third Day's manager told me that when Tai exited the stage he told her, "It don't get no better than this." Mission accomplished!
Of course, now I have the problem of trying to figure out what the Gomers can do to top that! Any ideas?

There's a thread on the boardswherein people are sharing the dreams they've had involving Third Day. (Mac even replied to the thread.) I don't usually dream about Third Day, but last night I did, and it was bizarre. Well, the dream itself wasn't so bizarre, but just the way my brain took a little tiny fact, created this whole scenario around it, and presented it to me in a dream. I thought you might find it amusing, too.
So in this dream, my husband Dan, son Asher, two friends Debbie and Lori, and I are at a huge church to see Third Day. It's before the show and Debbie and I are running around lost in this church. The line at the ladies room was too long. Debbie had gone to this church before and found another one for us to use, and now we were trying to find our way back to where the concert was held. So we're running around lost, worried that we'll miss the beginning of the show, and we see Tai Anderson. Well, we don't want him to think we are where we aren't supposed to be, but we figure that he will be going back to the concert area, so we decide to stealthily follow him. (In real life, I would have just asked him to point us in the direction of the concert!) So we're ducking around corners, trying not to let him see us. And then Debbie figured out where we were, and that we could get where we needed to be if we went through the nursery/school area.
Third Day just finished touring with Jars of Clay on the Christmas Offerings tour. The showswere wonderful! And we Gomers, always showing our support for Third Day, wore orange Santa hats to the shows, to celebrate the season Gomer style! To the left, you will find a new photo album full of pictures of the Gomer festivities during the tour.

And it's only slightly Third Day or Gomer oriented, but these guys are just so sweet to do this for me that I had to share it! Okay, let me back up a little. This is DecembeRadio. They are touring with Third Day next year. They are really good friends of mine, and I think you'll love them once you give them a listen. Debbie aka Aunt Gomer came to Texas for the Third Day/Jars of Clay Christmas Offerings shows in San Antonio and Houston. (Pictures going up from these shows soon! Look for new photo albums on the left.) I had a surprise party for her (which was also our Houston Gomer Christmas party). At this party, I played a DVD with birthday wishes from about 8 Gomers who couldn't be there. It was so sweet of everyone to do that! And of course, it made Debbie cry (goal accomplished!) This is the video the guys sent me for Debbie.
Besides having DecembeRadio sing to her, and having a surprise Gomer birthday party, and seeing two Third Day shows back-to-back, Debbie was also blessed by having everyone at the WIRED Meet and Greet after the San Antonio show sing to her! I think this was a birthday she will always remember! I know I will!
Absolutely nothing to do with Third Day or Gomers, unless you consider that I was checking the Gomer MySpace when I found it, but I thought this was so cool that I had to show you. Half-way through, I realized that my mouth was hanging open in amazement. I haven't tried it myself yet, but if any of you do, please tell us if it worked for you or not.
So have you ever wondered how much exercise you can get dancing at a concert? Well, I have, and I found out. But first a little back story. Three months ago, I decided to get serious and lose some weight and get into shape. Towards that end, I started wearing a pedometer everyday. The idea is to walk about 10,000 steps per day. The average person walks this much, and it's equal to about five miles, depending on your stride. So I wore it to a couple of concerts. I went to see Family Force 5 one night and TobyMac another night. At the TobyMac show, I danced 6,000 steps!!! Now that was a rockin' show! At the FF5 show, I danced 4,000 steps. That show super rocked, but I think my pedometer was hampered by the fact that I was standing on a couch the whole time. Much easier way to see, but not as easy to move. Now you may think that that wasn't really walking steps so it doesn't count, but movement is the goal, and I can tell you I was moving! Anyway, all this to tell you that if you are interested in losing weight, there are a group of Gomers that are encouraging each other in that goal. If you are moving toward that same goal, please come join us. I've lost 18 pounds so far, and it's kinda fun! Come read my weight loss blogto see how I'm doing it!
