Revelation on the Charts for One Year!

This week is the anniversary of the release of Third Day's CD Revelation (July 29, 2008). In all that time, it has never left the charts! In it's entire existence, the lowest spot it has ever attained on Billboard's Christian Albums chart is #18. It currently sits at #11 on that chart. Take a look for yourself. Click the black and pink box right below the picture of the Revelation album cover where it says, "Launch the Visualizer" to see a neat-o graph of where Revelation has charted each week of the last year.

If you click on the "Weeks on Chart" tab at the top, you can see the albums currently on the chart with the most longevity. Natalie Grant is the reigning queen. Her album Relentless has been on the charts for a whopping 72 weeks. Tenth Avenue North is in the #2 spot with their album Over and Underneath being on for 62 weeks. Third Day's Revelation is at #3 with 52 weeks. That's a long time to have people still buying and playing your album in such volume!

Revelation is also on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. It made a huge jump this week from #195 to #165!

"Born Again", the current single from Revelation is also at #11 on Billboard's Christian Songs chart. That's it's highest position in the nine weeks it's been on the chart, and up one spot from #12 last week.

Congratulations, Third Day, on a job well done! Personally, I think it's one of the best bodies of work you've produced yet!

Glory Revealed II Set to Release July 14

As a follow-up to their multiple Dove Award-winning 2007 release Glory Revealed: The Word of God in Worship, project visionaries Mac Powell (Third Day) and David Nasser (author/speaker) announce the release of a second CD in the award-winning series, titled Glory Revealed II: The Word of God in Worship. Set for a July 14 release, the Powell-produced project again blends roots-driven worship music with Biblical truth designed to musically stamp the word of God on the heart of listeners. Glory Revealed II features vocals from 21 different artists including Mark Hall, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, Shane & Shane, Natalie Grant and Brandon Heath, among others.

“When David and I talked about doing a second record, I really had a vision of us making music together,” Powell said. “I wanted it to really be a retreat time where we could sleep late if we wanted to and spend some time in God’s word together. I was hoping that it would naturally work, that people would go off on their own and start writing songs. It totally happened, and it was amazing.”

My friends DecembeRadio's awesome record Satisfied won the Dove Award for Rock Album if the Year!!! Third Day's own keyboard player Scotty Wilbanks produced the album!

I'm here at The 40th Gospel Music Association Dove Awards! We like to sit up in the balcony, because we can see all the artists in the floor. I don't see Third Day yet, but here is DecembeRadio sitting right behind The Blind Boys of Alabama, who are all in blue.

I will try to keep this up, but no promises. :)

Third Day - Live Revelations DVD/CD!

Third Day's new DVD Live Revelations, as the cover promises, features the band On Stage, Off Stage, and Backstage. It gives you a pretty good idea of what it's like to be on tour with Third Day, what they go through on a daily basis with planning, rehearsing, performing, meeting fans, and just hanging out.

This is Third Day's sixth DVD and like Live Wire, includes a CD of the live songs featured on the DVD. I like that, because you only get to watch the DVD when you get the chance to be home in front of your computer or TV, but you can listen to music anywhere! So get in the car and crank up Third Day live! (That's where I like to listen to music best, mostly because I can sing my heart out and not hurt anyone's ears.)

Another thing I like about this DVD/CD set is that it was recorded during the Music Builds Tour in different cities including Raleigh, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, the boys hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, and my hometown, Houston, Texas. So you get an idea of what the show looked like on several different nights.

New Live DVD/CD Takes Fans Through Different ‘Stages’ Of Life On The Road, Offering the Most All Access Profile of Third Day Yet

(Nashville, Tenn.) February 9, 2009 – Veteran rock band THIRD DAY, long a proponent of allowing fans glimpses into their lives and passions, both on and off the stage, let the cameras and tape recorders roll freely on several dates of its recent tour, and the result is nothing short of a “must-have” piece for Third Day fans, worldwide: Live Revelations: On Stage, Off Stage, Backstage, due out April 7.

The 75-minute documentary seamlessly blends the powerful Third Day live concert experience with exclusive behind-the-scenes moments as only an “all access” pass can offer. “When we say ‘all access’ we really went to the extreme with it,” notes Tai Anderson, the band’s bass player. “You’ll see Mac, Mark, David, me living day-to-day with the people we call our ‘family on the road’ and just being ourselves; sometimes intense, sometimes funny - but always real.”

This project successfully captures the band in transparent moments outside the spotlights. Fans will overhear creative discussions on songs and set lists as the band ramps up before shows. It also offers glimpses of one-on-one interactions with both family and fans, the band’s contagious sense of humor and even rare admission on its tour bus. The viewer will experience the delicate balance of life on the road and family commitments, and a bit of what it’s like when they’re off the road at home.

Live Revelations also features the moving music video for the No. 1 song “Revelation,” the title track of Third Day’s Revelation (7/29/08), culled from a live performance and interspersed with footage from California’s “Salvation Mountain,” the constantly evolving “outsider art” project that served as the inspiration for Revelation’s cover art treatment.
Anderson elaborates, “I’m really proud of the way ‘Live Revelations’ turned out. This is the kind of piece I'd want to see from my favorite bands. It has great performances, but also captures the tension and struggles of our lives on the road. The mix of performance and documentary makes it engaging all the way through.”

The accompanying audio disc places the listener in the front row as it features nine tracks drawn from summer and fall 2008 tour dates, showcasing songs including, “This Is Who I Am,” “Otherside” and “I Will Always Be True.”

A highlight of the audio disc is the team-up with friends from Switchfoot, Jars of Clay and Robert Randolph & The Family Band for a cover of the U2/B.B. King classic “When Love Comes To Town,” captured on last year’s Music Builds Tour benefiting Habitat for Humanity.

“It is always a pleasure to release live versions of our songs,” shares drummer, David Carr. “We spend so much time constructing the album versions but the songs really take on their true form when there is no going back and fixing anything, and there is no chance to second guess when we just get to be a live band. It was especially a joy to share the stage with the likes of Jars of Clay, Switchfoot and Robert Randolph in the performance of ‘When Love Comes to Town’! The song was electrifying and moving and each of us got a kick out of playing alongside such immense talent.”

Just got these year end charts in an email from the Gospel Music Association. (Personally, I think they shouldn't include Christmas albums, especially when they are by "secular" artists. Is that just me?)

Look at 'Em Go!

It's been over a week since Third Day's new album was released, and it's time to see how Revelation did on the charts. The news is good . . . nay, pretty great!

The big one is the Billboard Magazine Top 200 Albums chart. Third Day landed in the #6 spot on the first week out! That's very impressive!

Revelation took the #1 spot on both Billboard's Top Christian & Gospel Albums and their Top Rock/Alternative Albums (Christian) charts!

Meanwhile, the first single from the album, Call My Name is resting comfortably at the #1 spot of the Christian AC chart, with no hint of moving. It's been there for nine weeks now!!! The song is also #2 on the Christian CHR chart!

Congratulations to the guys of Third Day! This is an awesome record, and it seems the world agrees!

Revelation Cover Art - Stolen?

There has been some talk on other websites that Third Day stole the idea for the cover art for Revelation from Radiohead's Hail to the Thief. It may look similar, but it was not the inspiration. The real inspiration for the Revelation cover comes from Salvation Mountain in California. The explanation is on the Revelations page of www.ThirdDay.com.

Salvation Mountain is a real place. Located north of Calipatria, California, it has been entered in the congressional record as a National Treasure. Leonard Knight created Salvation Mountain as a large public art project designed to send the message that "God Loves Everyone." Third Day drew inspiration from Salvation Mountain to create the album cover for their new album Revelation. The cover is an artistic interpretation of Knight's creation composed of the song titles of the album to send our own message of God's love to the world.

3rd Day of Revelation Release Party!

At some point today, "Revelation" was the number one most downloaded song on iTunes! But things change fast over there. Revelation, the album, has moved up another notch today to the #3 spot on iTunes Top Albums! Hmmm, Third Day in the third spot on the third day of the release? Interesting.

Tomorrow is another KLOVE free Secret Show! This one is in Denver, at 8PM, at the Crossroads Church of Denver, 9725 W. 50th Ave. The church phone number is 303-421-3800. The KLOVE regional office phone number is 303-205-1234.

All the Revelation Lyrics!

If you are like me, you eagerly tore open your brand spankin' new copy of Revelation and took out the CD booklet to read through every inch of it. I love to see who worked on the CD, who wrote all the songs, who the band thanks, and see if there are any fun little messages or tributes from the band. I also love to read through the lyrics. Yesterday, when mine arrived, that's just what I did.

The album artwork is beautiful! It is hands down my favorite Third Day album cover. The photos of the band are the coolest I've seen of them. The whole package is wonderful. But if you are like me, you may be having a little bit of a problem reading the small print. So as my way to "Give Love" to you, here are the lyrics of all the songs on Revelation. Don't "Slow Down". Start studying now, so you'll be "Ready" to sing it out loud and strong when Third Day comes to your area on the Music Builds Tour.

So, now that it's been out for a day, how are you all enjoying Revelation? Did you watch the video of Third Day's KLOVE interview today? It's only mid-afternoon on Revelation Release Day, and already Third Day's new CD Revelation is up to #5 on iTunes' Top Albums. They are beating out the likes of U2's Live From Paris and Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard's Dark Knight Soundtrack!

 

 

Happy Revelation Release Day!

The day a new Third Day CD comes out is always so exciting! I remember almost every Third Day CD release date since I started liking them in 1997. I especially remember when Time came out. Dan came home from work at lunch time with it in his hand. He made a special trip to the store and home, just because he knew I'd be thrilled. I was! And he had something besides Time with him. He said, "The first people to buy it also get this EP called Southern Tracks!" I was so excited!!! Just as I am today with the release of Revelation!
