Third Day Inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame!

For two years now we have been working on a project originally conceived by Debbie Waters aka Aunt Gomer. She said to me one day, "We're going to get Third Day into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame!" (I didn't even know there was a Georgia Music Hall of Fame!)

She called the Georgy committee’s office to find out what we had to do, and posted the instructions on the boards, I posted it here on the blog, and you all got involved and helped.

Well, my fellow Gomers, this Saturday, September 19, Third Day is being inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame!

I'm not sure how much we had to do with it, because Third Day has done so much to earn this, not only because they are the best band in Christian music, but also because of their community service. Certainly they would have been inducted without our help!

If you are in the Atlanta area, you can watch it live on channel 8!

Just when you think there couldn't possibly be anything else to vote for, the Gospel Music Channel adds more to your Dove Awards ballot!

As I told you earlier, this is the very first year the Gospel Music Association is asking the fans to vote for the Dove Award in two categories, Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

Third Day is up for Artist of the Year, and we Gomers are very important in helping them win this award! If you haven't voted yet, please vote now!

The Gospel Music Channel is also asking fans to vote for the GMC Fan Awards in the categories Radio Show of the Year (2008), Concert of the Year (2008), and Festival of the Year (2008). The voting will continue during GMC’s exclusive live telecast of The 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards, Thursday, April 23 at 8:00 p.m. ET.  Winners will be announced on-air that night, then featured on GospelMusicChannel.com.

Third Day Wins Challenge #3 vs The Killers! On to Tesla!

Wow, that seemed pretty easy, surely a lot easier than the first challenge. Third Day whipped The Killers with something like 97% of the vote. I thought that'd be the hardest challenge. The Killers are known the world over. They are very popular in mainstream music. But maybe that's why it wasn't so hard. I have a new theory that it's the smaller bands that will be harder to beat. See, The Killers are big. What's one radio station challenge to them? Probably not much. The Killers may not have even been aware they were in the challenge. They probably have songs in challenges across the country all the time. As far as I know, this is the first radio challenge on a mainstream radio station that Third Day has ever been involved in, so this is much bigger for them. And to Ryan Star it was probably big. Thus the smaller bands rally the troops. And it's those troops (you) that are largely responsible for winning these challenges. Of course, I kinda feel a little weird about that, because then the challenge is not a true reflection of which song the listeners in San Diego really prefer. But I did email the radio station and they said they had it set up so that each person had an unlimited number of votes. So they must not mind if we get everyone to vote and vote often.

So now Third Day has beaten the four time champ Ryan Star, Depeche Mode, and The Killers. They are one step closer to entering Sophie 103.7's Hall of Champions! Today's challenge is against Tesla's "Fallin' Apart". Vote here!

Third Day Challenge Against Mainstream Bands -- VOTE Daily!

Seems like I'm always asking y'all to vote for Third Day lately. And you don't mind, do you? I know I love being able to vote for them, to be part of helping them win things like this. It's exciting! Well, here's one more.

San Diego radio station Sophie 103.7 has daily music challenges. Yesterday, Third Day's song "Slow Down" featuring Chris Daughtry went up against Ryan Star's song "Long Train Home." Ryan was the four-time champion, but Third Day beat him! Let me tell you, though, it was not easy! We had to mobilize every Gomer possible to vote. I even went over to Chris Daughtry's forum to ask his fans to pitch in, and they did! So it took all of us voting until our fingers cramped up, and even then Third Day only beat Ryan by 1% of the vote! But it was exciting. I kept picturing all of us at our computers clicking like mad men, beads of sweat on our brows. Okay, so maybe it wasn't truly like that, but close. Very close.

So Third Day won the first challenge against Ryan Star, then went up against Depeche Mode's song "Wrong", which they beat easily.

Now the competition is a little stiffer. Today "Slow Down" faces The Killer's "Spaceman" and we need everyone to vote! Just click here and vote for Third Day. The voting is set up so that we can each vote lots of times, (I asked the radio station) so bookmark the page and vote as often as you can!

Each round ends at noon Pacific Time. (That's 3PM ET, 2PM CT.)

And spread the word to others, get everyone voting. This is big. We want to show this radio station and their listeners that Third Day is a band they should be listening to. Did I mention this is a mainstream radio station? Who knows but that these wins will cause Sophie to add Third Day into their regular rotation, and people will start listening to them, and through the music they will be drawn to Christ?

And when Third Day wins this one against The Killers, we need to keep voting and voting, until Third Day enters that Sophie Hall of Champions at the bottom of their Challenge page!

As I said below, this year, the GMA is asking fans to vote for the Dove Awards in two categories, New Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year. Voting starts today. Here's how you do it.

You can vote in each category twice. Once on the website and once via text message.

Go to www.GospelMusicChannel.com/DovesVoting and fill out your name and email address. Click on the bars that say "Artist of the Year" & "New Artist of the Year" to vote. You may only vote once. If you vote more than once on the website, your vote may be disqualified.

Third Day for Artist of the Year - Your Vote Counts!

Did you see the press release below about Third Day being nominated for a flock of Dove Awards? How great is that?! Let me recap for you. Third Day is nominated for:

• Artist of the Year
• Group of the Year
• Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for Revelation
• Special Event Album category: Mac Powell is nominated for his part on How Great Thou Art: 
• Gospel Favorites from the Grand Ole Opry (He sang with Charlie Daniels on “I’ll Fly Away")

I know we Gomers get very excited watching the GMA Dove Awards on TV, and even attending the Dove Awards in person at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. But admit it, you feel kinda helpless, waiting to see if Third Day has won, don't you?

Despair no longer! This year, for the very first time in it's 40 year history, the Gospel Music Association is inviting the fans to vote in two of the top categories, New Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year! Fan voting will open on Feb. 26, the same day online voting opens for GMA members. They are going to continue the voting right up until the time they announce the winners! The cumulative fan vote will account for one-third of the total vote in those two categories.

To vote, we will have to go to either the Gospel Music Channel website or the Dove Awards website starting Thursday.

Now here's where we get busy Gomers! We know that Third Day is the Artist of the Year, every year! But this is our first best chance to show it! Spread the word! Get everyone to vote for Third Day for Artist of the Year! We can do this!

CCM Readers' Choice Awards

Believe it or not, it's that time of year again. Time to vote for your favorite CCM artists (subliminal message: Third Day!) in the CCM Magazine's 2009 Readers' Choice Awards.

At the beginning of every year there are tons of websites and magazines asking you to vote for your favorite artists, but I like this poll best, because they give us the results with such pomp and circumstance! Well, at least they did when CCM Magazine was a print magazine. They did interesting photo layouts with the winning artists, full page spreads! It will be interesting to see how the May issue of CCMMagazine.com handles the results, if they can make us feel the excitement as well as holding it in your own hands on glossy paper can. (I guess I'm old fashioned.)

And maybe I like this poll best because one year, (2005?) the only year they had this category, we Gomers won the Readers' Choice Award for "Most Fanatical Fans". That was a thrill! And you know, we actually do deserve that award, every year! (It's not hard to be fanatical when it's Third Day you are being fanatical about!)

And I just like to vote for my favorite artists and see them win contests like this!

But whatever your reason, go vote! You only have until March 31!

*I know a lot of us are just lost when we get to that "Producer of the Year" category. I hardly ever pay attention to who produces CDs. But I do know that Third Day's keyboard player, Scotty Wilbanks, is an extraordinary producer! He's produced many of your (other) favorite bands like DecembeRadio, Echoing Angels, After Edmund, and many more! He's bringing a lot of new talent to the forefront of Christian music. So when you get to that "Producer of the Year" category, if you have a mind to, go ahead and write in "Scotty Wilbanks". We'd love to see him win!

 Third Day has been nominated for an American Music Award! This is their third nomination. They have never won the award. But we can help them win!

Radio station KLTY in Dallas is running a poll on which we all need to vote for Third Day. The poll reads:

Street Team Results for Austin, Abilene, and Kearny

We had eleven Gomers participate in the efforts to sell out the Third Day shows for Abilene, Austin, and Kearny. Most of the Gomers that helped in this effort did not live in these cities, but used the internet, telephone, and US mail to let people know Third Day was coming to their town. The participants were rewarded with meet and greet passes to whatever show they were attending. The details of the project were posted on the Third Day message boards and on the blog post below.

We started the street team effort on March 3. Below is a list of how many tickets were sold in each city after the project was started. Not all of these tickets are a direct result of the street team project, but many of them are! Great work girls!

Help Third Day Launch Consuming Fire Productions!

By now, most of you have heard of Hyper Static Union. They toured with Third Day during the Live Wire tour, so if you saw Third Day in the fall of 2004, you saw Hyper Static Union (unless you missed the opening act). If you have seen Third Day live during this tour, you have heard Hyper Static Union, even though you may not be aware of it. HSU's music is what you hear before the show, as everyone is coming in and getting their seats. They have a very different sound from most rock bands out there. It's very funky. You cannot sit still when you listen to their music. It makes you want to move! You need to check them out!

Gomers, we need to help Third Day get the word out about this awesome band. Hyper Static Union is the first band signed to Third Day's new Consuming Fire Productions. If they do well, the success is two-fold. It will be a success not only for Hyper Static Union, but for Third Day as well! So let's do what Gomers do best, and help Third Day!
