Third Day: Move
Third Day's newest released on October 19, 2010. Their last CD, Revelation, asked the question, "Tell me should I stay here, or do I need to move?" This CD answers that question, "MOVE"! And this collection of Third Day songs will inspire you to do just that.

For two years now we have been working on a project originally conceived by Debbie Waters aka Aunt Gomer. She said to me one day, "We're going to get Third Day into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame!" (I didn't even know there was a Georgia Music Hall of Fame!)
She called the Georgy committee’s office to find out what we had to do, and posted the instructions on the boards, I posted it here on the blog, and you all got involved and helped.
Well, my fellow Gomers, this Saturday, September 19, Third Day is being inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame!
I'm not sure how much we had to do with it, because Third Day has done so much to earn this, not only because they are the best band in Christian music, but also because of their community service. Certainly they would have been inducted without our help!
If you are in the Atlanta area, you can watch it live on channel 8!
Debbie and I will be there, and I will try to take some pictures and maybe blog live from the event. At least I'll be Twittering. You can follow the 3DGomers Twitter feed on Twitter, or on the right column of this page.
And don't tell Debbie I told you that this was her idea. She'd be pretty embarrassed, and she'd probably kill me. So sssshhhhh! ;)

I'm here at The 40th Gospel Music Association Dove Awards! We like to sit up in the balcony, because we can see all the artists in the floor. I don't see Third Day yet, but here is DecembeRadio sitting right behind The Blind Boys of Alabama, who are all in blue.

Third Day's new DVD Live Revelations, as the cover promises, features the band On Stage, Off Stage, and Backstage. It gives you a pretty good idea of what it's like to be on tour with Third Day, what they go through on a daily basis with planning, rehearsing, performing, meeting fans, and just hanging out.
This is Third Day's sixth DVD and like Live Wire, includes a CD of the live songs featured on the DVD. I like that, because you only get to watch the DVD when you get the chance to be home in front of your computer or TV, but you can listen to music anywhere! So get in the car and crank up Third Day live! (That's where I like to listen to music best, mostly because I can sing my heart out and not hurt anyone's ears.)
Another thing I like about this DVD/CD set is that it was recorded during the Music Builds Tour in different cities including Raleigh, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, the boys hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, and my hometown, Houston, Texas. So you get an idea of what the show looked like on several different nights.

I've been so good lately, going to bed before midnight. (If you know me, then you know that until about a month ago, my usual bedtime was 1AM or sometime there after.) But tonight I'm staying up after midnight, waiting for Third Day to come on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson!
I must be dedicated. I can barely keep my eyes open.
I'm even recording this on our DVR, but TV is always better watched when it's actually on than later on a recording. I don't know why.
So here I sit, waiting to see my favorite band, Third Day, appear on national television. And I'm not alone. As a matter of fact, a bunch of us dedicated Gomers are on Twitter right now, trying to watch this together. Mark Lee's even there. (The guys from Sanctus Real are there, too, but they are preoccupied with getting a late night snack.) But it's weird and difficult, because everyone's in different time zones, and here in Houston, the show is on at 12:07 instead of 12:35. So we can't really talk to each other about it as it's happening.
So I thought I'd blog about it instead.
I love this crazy Scotsman Craig Ferguson. He just gets on there and rambles. I think he's a few ingredients short of a haggis.
Mark Lee has posted a few mementos from the night on his Posterous blogette. Here is a note from Craig to the band. And here is a picture of Tai, who is just a little excited about being on the show.

When the Music Builds Tour came to Houston on October 3, it was more than just another stop on the tour. The Houston/Galveston area was devastated by Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008, and as they have done so many times in the past, Third Day came prepared to help. They turned the Music Builds Tour into the Music Re-Builds Tour to help raise money for hurricane victims. Television cameras were there to record the show. The audio portion was broadcast live on KSBJ radio and on their website (for a while, until they had technical difficulties that forced the live feed to cease). And this Friday, you can watch the entire Music Re-builds show, including interviews with some of the Gomers that were there. Here is the information you need to watch, either on TV in the Houston area, or on KSBJ's website.
Mayor Bill White and 89.3 KSBJ Special Events Partner To Raise Funds for Hurricane Ike Victims
HOUSTON
(November 10, 2008) – To help those affected by Hurricane Ike and raise
funds for Mayor Bill White’s Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund, the “Music
Re-Builds Tour” Houston concert featuring Christian artists Third Day,
Switchfoot and Robert Randolph & the Family Band will be
re-broadcast Friday, November 14th at 7 p.m. (CST)
on HTV, HCCTV and Comcast (CH 76) as well as via webstream from
www.ksbj.org. Following the successful live performance at the Berry
Center on October 3, the concert broadcast will encourage viewers and
listeners to help those in need by calling 713-276-3901,
visiting www.ksbj.org and mailing a donation to the Gulf Coast Ike
Relief Fund, c/o The Greater Houston Community Foundation, 4550 Post
Oak Place, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77027.
"We are grateful for
the efforts of KSBJ Special Events and for the support of Red Light
Management and bands of the 'Music Re-Builds Tour'," says Mayor Bill
White. "Rebuilding the Gulf Coast region depends on the financial
stability of the established non-profit organizations that provide
immediate and long-term relief to our communities. All of the funds
generated will provide a solid platform for localized recovery from
this devastating storm."
The televised broadcast, produced by
HTV Houston and HCCTV, offers a hopeful message from Mayor Bill White
along with an evening of live Contemporary Christian music, testimonies
from relief organizations and messages of support from Houston
celebrities such as the Astros and Houston Texans.
“The Music
Re-Builds benefit concert in Houston is taking on new meaning as all
the bands involved are eager to help those who suffered from Hurricane
Ike by raising funds for the relief effort. We are grateful for the
opportunity to do something much bigger than rock and roll, to partner
with Houston music fans to make a difference in the community,” said
Chad Butler with Switchfoot.
"The people of Houston showed
incredible generosity in their support for the victims of Hurricane
Katrina. It is an honor to do all we can to help the City of Houston
in their hour of need," commented Tai Anderson from Third Day.

There has been a lot of voting going on lately! Many of you have done your country a great service and voted in the Presidential election. Many more of you (because there is no age limit to vote in this instance) have voted for Third Day to win the American Music Award. For that, Third Day, all the other Gomers, and I thank you! And now it's time to choose a winner in my Vote for Third Day contest.
I counted comments (there were 40, but only your first comment counts and a couple comments were mine, which brings it to 35 unique comments) and put the number into my handy-dandy random number picker, which came up with the number 29. Count down 29 unique comments and voilá! Our winner is Lori Hamlin!
Congratulations Lori! Lori's prize will depend on which Third Day CDs are missing from her collection. I'll augment this post with a photo of the prize after I talk to her.
Don't forget to watch the American Music Awards to see Third Day win the AMA for "Favorite Artist - Contemporary Inspirational"! It airs on ABC, Sunday, November 23, at 8/7 CT.

Seems the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tapes their musical guests well ahead of time. So you will not see Third Day on tonight's show. They will be on the show on November 21st, so mark it on your calendars.

Everyone who votes and then comments below this post to tell me they voted will be entered in a drawing for a very special Third Day prize.*
The American Music Awards airs on ABC, Sunday, November 23, at 8/7 CT.
*The winner will be picked at random, using my handy-dandy random number picker. Only your first comment will count as a contest entry. The winner will be chosen on November 8. Comments must be posted on this page, under the AMA blog post of October 15. No others will be counted as entries. Those of you who aren't night owls, and even some who are, will have to set your TiVo or DVR for the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS, on Monday, October 20, because Third Day will be on!
The show doesn't come on until 12:35 AM et/pt (according to the website. Check your listings. Here in Houston it's on at 12:07AM.) That's pretty late even for some of us self-professed night owls. Besides, if you record it, you can watch it again and again!
Woo hoo!!!
I just love it when Christian artists make appearances on secular TV shows. Makes me wonder what is going on in living rooms across the country. People are probably saying things like, "That is Christian music? Doesn't sound like the old hymns I used to listen to when I was a boy. That rocks!"
"I've never heard of this band. What are they called, Third Day? I'm going to have to check them out on MySpace and iTunes."
"I don't know what it is, but there is something different about those guys and their music. It touches something in me."
"That song, that that they are singing about, that is me! That is what I'm going through! That's what I need!"
"'Call My Name'? That's a good song. That's what I want to say to my friend, that they can call on me anytime and I'll be there for them."
"Third Day has a new album out? I haven't listened to them in a while. I need to check that out."

An interesting interview from GospelMusicChannel.com.
Deborah Evans Price, Senior Music Editor, GospelMusicChannel.com takes you backstage on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
The day a new record releases is always special for a recording artist,
but July 29 was an especially memorable street date for Third Day. In
an unusual coup for a Christian act, the band landed an appearance on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, performing their No. 1 single “Call My
Name.”
The day began for Third Day’s Mac Powell, Tai Anderson, David Carr and
Mark Lee with a 10:30 call time on the Leno set at NBC studios in
Burbank, CA. Though the show airs after late local newscasts
across the
country, it tapes at 4 p.m. on the west coast. The band began
rehearsing and it was cool to see the Leno crew responding to the
music. Wendy, who handles audio, became an instant fan, and Gary, the
lighting guy, asked what their other songs were like and commented on
how much he liked Mac’s voice. As a longtime fan, it was a thrill to
see other people discover the guys for the first time.
Suddenly during the middle of rehearsal the floor began to move and the
band’s manager Shawn McSpadden looked at me and said rather calmly, “I
think this is an earthquake.” Indeed he was right and in moments we
were ushered out to the parking lot where we stood around Jay Leno’s
vintage orange Lamborghini and felt the earth move under our feet. It
was a surreal moment. No one panicked. It was exciting but somewhat
unsettling.
“I thought ‘How are they moving the stage because this is part of the
building? This isn’t a separate stage,’” said Mac following the quake,
which measured 5.4 on the Richter scale.

There's a thread on the boards wherein people are sharing the dreams they've had involving Third Day. (Mac even replied to the thread.) I don't usually dream about Third Day, but last night I did, and it was bizarre. Well, the dream itself wasn't so bizarre, but just the way my brain took a little tiny fact, created this whole scenario around it, and presented it to me in a dream. I thought you might find it amusing, too.
So in this dream, my husband Dan, son Asher, two friends Debbie and Lori, and I are at a huge church to see Third Day. It's before the show and Debbie and I are running around lost in this church. The line at the ladies room was too long. Debbie had gone to this church before and found another one for us to use, and now we were trying to find our way back to where the concert was held. So we're running around lost, worried that we'll miss the beginning of the show, and we see Tai Anderson. Well, we don't want him to think we are where we aren't supposed to be, but we figure that he will be going back to the concert area, so we decide to stealthily follow him. (In real life, I would have just asked him to point us in the direction of the concert!) So we're ducking around corners, trying not to let him see us. And then Debbie figured out where we were, and that we could get where we needed to be if we went through the nursery/school area.

Put on your Gomer shirt, pop some popcorn, and get ready to party by the TV this Saturday night! September 8th and 9th, Atlanta based Gospel Music Channel will air Third Day's behind-the-scenes documentary Inside Third Day: The First Ten Years, covering one of Christian rock's biggest bands with personal stories, concert highlights, and home movies. The documentary gives you a rare glimpse into all facets of the band's early rise and continuted success, and is included on Third Day's latest release, Chronology Volume Two (2001-2006).
Inside Third Day: The First Ten Years is flanked by Third Day on two other GMC shows, Front Row Live and Hot List. The first show features the live concert Live Wire, but not just what you get on the DVD. The show has Mac and Mark talking about Live Wire. Hot List features Christian music videos that have a theme in common. This episode of Hot List features the guys of Third Day talking about their personal favorite videos. It's an interesting look into what the guys like in Christian music.
Here are the air times, listed in Central Time, for each of the shows. Basically, if you turn your TV on to Gospel Music Channel at 7:00 PM, Saturday, you can watch six straight hours of Third Day! Then if you turn it back on at 3:00 AM, you can watch three more hours! (Of course, it will be the same three, one hour shows, over and over again, but who cares? It's Third Day on TV!)
Front Row Live: "Third Day Live Wire" - Saturday, 7 PM & 10 PM; Sunday, 3 AM
Inside Third Day: The First Ten Years - Saturday, 8 PM & 11 PM; Sunday, 4 AM
Hot List: "Third Day's Favorite Videos" - Saturday: 5AM & 9 PM, Midnight; Sunday 5 AM
Not sure if you get Gospel Music Channel? Check here.
