Your Art, Your Revelation, on the new ThirdDay.com

800pximg_0633 Salvation Mountain is a real place. Located north of Calipatria, California, it has been entered to the congressional record as a national treasure. Leonard Knight created Salvation Mountain as a large public art project designed to send the message that "God Loves Everyone."
Third_day_revelation
Third Day drew inspiration from Salvation Mountain to create the album cover for their new album, Revelation. The cover is an artistic interpretation of Knight's creation composed of the song titles of  the album to send our own message of God's love to the world.

Now here's where you come in.

Using Third Day's music as your inspiration, create your own piece of art, your own revelation. It can be anything from a short story inspired by a song, a music video, a short film, a painting, or a cartoon. Anything! We'll post your art on the Revelation page of the new Third Day website to share with the larger Third Day community.

Send your submissions to tdrevelations@gmail.com to be considered for placement on the website.

All video or audio samples must be uploaded to YouTube and link sent. Please: Do not send raw audio or video content.

We'd like to have some entries before the website goes up on April 23, which means we need them soon! Be the first to get your work displayed on the website!

The Boards are Down

No, it's not your computer. The Third Day boards are down. We are moving to a new and improved server, so they will be down for a few days. So you don't go through too much withdrawal, you can use the comment space here to post, or visit the Third Day MySpace and the Gomers MySpace. And did you know there's a chat room inside Gomertopia? Log in and chat away! There's always someplace to post about Third Day!

It's almost here! The new Gomertopia!!!

I've just seen the new Gomertopia!!! Wow, you guys are just going to love it! Dale has outdone himself! Right now, we're testing it out, making sure it's all that we want it to be before we open it up to you all. Boy, is this going to be great!

The new Gomertopia is similar to Facebook, ShoutLife, and MySpace, in that you will have your own profile. When you log in, you will see a feed of what your friends are doing, and you can go to their profiles to visit them. You build up your profile with whatever you want people to know about you, your likes and dislikes, favorite things, as much of your background as you'd like to share, your philosophy of life, favorite scripture, all kinds of things. You even have your own place to blog! And it will be safe from spam and the other nasty things that go along with MySpace.

And you know how hard you work to post your photos in the tour forums and Creative Arts forum, only to have them deleted after a while? Well, on the new Gomertopia, you will have your own photo albums! You can display your concert photos, family photos, all your photos, right on your own profile!

I think of it as each of us having our own little homes, right on Gomertopia. I've always thought of the Third Day message boards as our town square. When you go there, you can see who all is there. You go into the shops to look around (the forums). When you find something that interests you (a thread) you can check it out further and discuss the subject with everyone else. You can private message people and see a little about them on their profile, but that profile is very limited. To know someone well, you have to go to their house and see what it's like, what pictures do they have on the wall, how is it decorated, what kind of a host are they, things like that. So while we'll still have the boards, our town square, to get together and discuss things and chat, now we'll be able to show more of our own personalities in our own Gomertopia homes.

And like the boards, which has a nice, clean, friendly Christian atmosphere without being watered down or so safe that you can't discuss the real issues of the day, crack a joke, or poke fun at a your friends, Gomertopia will also be clean and safe. I know many Christians don't have MySpace profiles because of the spam, X-rated friend requests, and other nastiness on there. But you can be assured that the new Gomertopia will be kept free from all of that, the same way the boards are.

So now you are wriggling in your seat, because you can't wait to see the new Gomertopia and join up, right? Well, just a little while longer now and you will be able to! So start gathering your thoughts about what you will post on your profile, and your photos for your photo albums, and get ready for the new Gomertopia!!!

I'm drooling here

At Rock the Universe in Florida a couple of weeks ago, I broke my phone. It was all Mac Powell's fault. He told us to take pictures of David Carr singing Happy Birthday to his son Wyatt, and I always do what I'm told. ;) It had been raining, hard, for a good part of the evening (if you read my review, you already know that part). By the time Third Day played, the rain had stopped, but my fingers were still damp and pruney. When I tried to take a video of David singing, I must have gotten some dampness from my fingers into the phone's keypad, because after that moment, my keys only work every great once in a while. All that to say, I need a new phone.

I'm falling in love with (drooling over)

We just can't leave our technology behind, no matter where we go. Isn't it wonderful to be so close to our friends, no matter how far away they are?

No more need for guitar techs?

I was watching HGTV's series called I Want That! where they show you all the coolest new gadgets. One of the coolest things I've seen on there is the Tronical Power Tune, a gadget that automatically tunes your guitar in two seconds flat! Not only will this keep your guitar in tune, but if you are changing the tuning for a song, all you have to do is turn the dial, and it's done for you in two seconds. It is a modular system that can be retrofitted to virtually any available guitar make or model. Way too cool! But I don't think Third Day's guitar techs have anything to worry about. This thing can't change strings . . . yet.

Pictures from the Shows -- As It Happens!

Mark Lee has been using Typepad Mobile to send pictures and posts from the concert directly and instantly to his Third Day blog. It's so cool to be able to take a picture and then post it seconds later to your blog when you are nowhere near your computer. It's even more awesome for the fans. We all love to look at the pictures from the shows in the tour forums, but to see pictures taken seconds ago during the show, especially the ones Mark has taken while onstage, is just the very coolest thing so far. I love technology! (Sounds like a song cue.)

A Little Hint

Isn't it a pain that everytime you come to Gomertopia.com you have to sign in? Well, here is a tip to relieve you of that little bit of stress in your life.

When you come to www.Gomertopia.com , instead of logging in on the front page, click below the log in blanks where it says . That takes you to a page where you can log in and click the little check box that says "Remember me". And voilĂ ! You don't have to log in every time you come here!

Captions Please

I was just over at JesusFreakHideout.com reading3d2_3   about how "delightful" we Gomers are in John's GMA Week review, and I found some interesting pictures. I thought I'd post this one here to see if you all can come up with any interesting captions. What is it that Tai is saying? What is Mac thinking? Any funny ideas? Click the picture for a larger version of it.

And may I take this space to tell you that if you haven't already done so, you need to check out JesusFreakHideout.com. It's an awesome site. They have the most comprehensive list of Third Day's work I've ever found. Check it out.
