Revelation: On Stage, Off Stage, Backstage is an album we're very proud of and
we're honored that the Academy would recognize it with a GRAMMY tonight."

I was trying to hold off publishing this press release until I could put with it the photo of Debbie and I with Third Day at this event, but I haven't gotten the photo yet, and this can't wait any longer. But I did find the photos by the photographer that was there, Rick Diamond of Getty Images. See some great photos of the evening in Atlanta here. (There are a few pages of them. Be sure to see them all. Once you get to the photos of James Brown, that's another event.)

When the Music Builds Tour came to Houston on October 3, it was more than just another stop on the tour. The Houston/Galveston area was devastated by Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008, and as they have done so many times in the past, Third Day came prepared to help. They turned the Music Builds Tour into the Music Re-Builds Tour to help raise money for hurricane victims. Television cameras were there to record the show. The audio portion was broadcast live on KSBJ radio and on their website (for a while, until they had technical difficulties that forced the live feed to cease). And this Friday, you can watch the entire Music Re-builds show, including interviews with some of the Gomers that were there. Here is the information you need to watch, either on TV in the Houston area, or on KSBJ's website.

AUGUSTA, GA. - You will know them by the legions of human traffic cones marching into the James Brown Arena. They’re called Gomers, and they’re the self-appointed superfans of the band Third Day.
“I had a lot more names for them,” laughed bassist Tai Andserson, on the phone from his Roswell home in suburban Atlanta. “I liked the Daytrippers. But the fans really identified with [Gomer].”
Thirty-thousand fans, to be more precise, currently count themselves among the Gomer pile, each of them taking the last name “Gomer” and adding a prefix that describes them, such as Happy Gomer or Mama Gomer. The fans see themselves as a family, with a common last name to join them together.
(Nashville, Tenn.) March 27, 2008 – When Third Day’s newest project kicks off with vocalist Mac Powell declaring “I’m the son of a good man/I’m the child of an angel,” you don’t get the sense the statement is necessarily autobiographical. It’s personal yet universal; a reflection of man’s never-ending search for his identity.
That thread of searching for definition plays throughout Revelation, the veteran Atlanta-based band’s 11th studio album, set to release on July 29. For Powell and his longtime bandmates – guitarist Mark Lee, bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr – that search involved stepping out of their physical comfort zone by recording the project in Los Angeles, and out of their creative comfort zone by bringing in producer Howard Benson, known for his work with artists such as Daughtry, P.O.D., Flyleaf and Hoobastank.
The result is a muscular sound, strung taut with hooks and hat-tips to its Southern-rock influences, but also a real, palpable vulnerability in both song matter and performance.
“As we mature in our faith, we come to a point where we realize that everything is not black and white. The older you get, the more questions you have,” Powell says. “The point is that it’s okay that we don’t have all the answers - but we know the One who does.”
